It took me like three hours, but I finally figured out how to embed videos from YouTube. Apparently, WordPress is funny about letting people put all kinds of ‘code’ into their html editor. this article explains how to make youtube videos play in a wordpress blog.

no man, I can’t understand, it does absolutely not work… I put this code in my post and it just shows up as text… and besides, I’m doing it on my own computer, local….. not on the wordpress server, and it stil doesn’t work
Try toggling the html editor settings in the profile options.
i did everything u did and it doenst work just like virgil it just shows the link and troggling html editor settings in profile options? uhh i dont see profile options what program are you refering too. man this is bullshit

blah.. wordpress is crap with youtube.. i’ll probably switch to another blogging software.. i even host my own wordpress blog, and you mean i still cant mess with the code? gimme a break..
Like others, I had problems with this.
Here’s the solution:
Go to
Dashboard -> Manage -> Upload -> Video
and you’ll find the correct syntax for in-place Youtube video presentation on wordpress.com.
